Following last Saturday’s ruling
of the Taraba state election petition tribunal which annulled the governorship
election, the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state
seems to have been deserted.

Darius Ishaku
According to Leadership report, the members of the PDP deserted the secretariat as none of the officials were found in any of the offices while the few who were there wore grim faces.
The tribunal had at
the weekend sacked the state governor, Darius Ishaku, and announced
Aisha Alhassan of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the April
2015 governorship election.
While supporters of the PDP are still busy lamenting
over their loss, supporters of the APC were seen jubilating round the streets,
carrying placards and banners with description written “Mama Taraba Tadawo,
Ishaku yatefi”.
One Alhaji Sambo Maiyadi, a supporter of the APC
candidate, Alhassan expressed confidence that Aisha would continue to win even
if the PDP and its governorship candidate goes to appeal hundred times.
Reactions have been trailing last Saturday’s verdict
of the governorship election petitions tribunal that ordered the incumbent
governor, Darius Ishaku to vacate office with immediate effect.
Reacting to the verdict, the PDP called the decision “bizarre”, adding that the
Taraba tribunal ruling showed another example of interference by the
judiciary with the executive.
According to Ayodele Fayose, the
governor of Ekiti state, there might be some kind of conspiracy by the ruling
APC and the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari aimed at the
opposition party. he called on the Supreme Court to save Nigeria from the impending anarchy.
He also described the tribunal’s judgment as judicial rascality and
conspiracy.
Meanwhile, the APC said the PDP should blame itself for whatever
tragedy has now befallen it.
