Newly appointed minister of solid
minerals, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has explained how he will help President Muhammadu
Buhari achieve his dreams, The Nation reports.
The former Ekiti state governor said that the
president has passion for solid minerals and has said that he will turn its
potentials into concrete reality.

Fayemi who spoke on assumption of office at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, also said that he will work in ensuring that he will help achieve the president’s aim of the non-oil products to rescue the economy from its current challenges and expressed.
Ambrose Momoh, the ministry’s deputy director,
press and public relations, who made this known in a statement Thursday,
explained that the minister solicited the cooperation and support of both
management and staff to jointly realize the objectives and programmes of
President Buhari.
On his part, the minister of state for solid minerals,
Abubakar Bawa Bwari, expressed the readiness of the ministry to deliver on the
mandates given to them by the president.
His first duty when he assumed office was that the
newly appointed permanent secretary for the ministry, Musa Istifanus, briefed him
(Fayemi) on the existence of a road map prepared for the sector which was yet
to be implemented as well as the availability of specific mineral resources in
virtually all the local government areas in the country.
Mr Istifanus also stressed the need for the
resuscitation of the Ajaokuta steel industry to boost steel production in the
country to serve as a source of revenue and job generation and creation
respectively.
Meanwhile, the minister of power,
works and housing, Babatunde
Fashola has been given his first assignment after his
inauguration by the president on Wednesday.
