Buhari Moves To
Resolve Unemployment Crunch
President Muhammadu Buhari has
remained dogged in his policies to boost employment opportunities for young
Nigerians in the country.
This comes on the heels of a directive from the
president to the Federal Ministries of Works and Lands, Housing and Urban
Development to immediately prepare a plan of action for the speedy
revitalisation and expansion of the nation’s vocational training centres,
Premium Times reports.
It is believed that President Buhari is determined to
redeem his campaign vow of creating jobs opportunities for unemployed youths.
But due to the shortage of experienced construction
workers in the country, many construction companies have been forced to bring
in skilled artisans from abroad.

He said that the federal government would immediately
move to curb all disorders in the vocational training centres.
The president stated this in a meeting with the board
of directors of a leading construction company in the country.
Addressing the board of directors, Buhari assured
members of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc that his government would act speedily to
ensure that the Building Craft Training School and Skill Improvement Centre in
Lagos are fully overhauled, staffed and equipped to produce more skilled
artisans.
He added that in spite of present funding challenges,
his government would continue to do everything possible to settle outstanding
payments due to contractors.
However, despite the president
moves to restrict the entry of foreign construction workers into
Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged him to resign over his
inability to stir the nation towards economic success.
