CCT Trial: el-Rufai Set To Testy Against Saraki

The problems of the embattled Senate president, Bukola Saraki have been compounded with the revelation that Governor Nasir el-Rufai will testify against Saraki in his ongoing trial.

The government has stated that it has gathered enough evidence to nail Saraki that as a public officer he allegedly acquired several assets that was beyond his legitimate earnings, Vanguard reports.
The government, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) said that five witnesses will be lined-up  at the resumed hearing of Code of Conduct Tribunal on October 21. He stated that there are enough exhibits against Saraki.
Among those that will give testimonies against Saraki at the resumed hearing will be the governor of Kaduna state, el-Rufai.
el-Rufai  is expected to testify that as the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, he was the one that sold one of the assets that Saraki brought in Abuja that the government is allegedly that he failed to declared it as part of his assets while making his declaration.
Jacob added that Saraki had already been served with all the proofs of evidence against him, including copies of four separate assets declaration forms that he earlier submitted before the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB.
The prosecutor urged the appellate court to dismiss the appeal that Saraki lodged before it and order him to go to the CCT and clear his name. He is also alleged to have owned and operated foreign bank accounts while being a public officer.
Saraki, in his appeal, has challenged the legal propriety of the 13-count criminal charge preferred against him by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
In a related development, The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja  in an appeal brought by Saraki against the federal government challenging the legality of his trial at Code of Conduct (CCT) over alleged false assets declaration.
The appeal court decision followed the final brief of arguments from counsels to the parties in the suit.
